Kiri Schumacher

Botanical forms of unfurling leaves and blooming flowers are echoes in Kiri’s exquisite designs of silver and gold; her jewellery draws on the beauty of flora - Pohutukawa, Koromiko, Fuschia and Rengarenga. Inspired by small plant details such as leaves, buds and pods, Kiri refines structure back to it’s simplest form; focusing on one aspect of a design to draw out the essence of it’s shape. She has a fond relationship with the various metals of her craft and their temperaments when heated, shaped, hammered and carved. Kiri takes pleasure in living with everyday items of beauty. She delights in jewellery’s ability to also meld so readily into our lives, warmed by our bodies, constantly touched and re-applied.
